Comic Market, often abbreviated as Comiket and Comike, is an exhibition and sale marketplace dedicated to non-commercial self-published items. It started in 1975 as a "space” for people to explore new possibilities in creative expression in the realm of manga and to act as a forum for communication between fans.

Currently, Comic Market is Japan's largest indoor public gathering operated by a single private non-governmental group.
